FOX 26 News story on Alvin ISD Coach Special Olympics coach Michael Biasini
------
HOUSTON (FOX 26) -
When Special Olympics participants in Alvin want a little inspiration, they need look no further than their own coach.

His name is Michael Biasini. But all the kids call him "Coach B."

Biasini's playbook is a dog-eared copy of "Chicken Soup for the Soul," a life-affirming series on the human condition.

He is especially fond of one story in particular. It chronicles a baby born with eyes on the side of his head, no nose, missing fingers and a club foot. At the time, doctors urged the parents to give the baby up for science.

"I like to share this story," said Coach B, "to tell other people that even though we're all different and unique in our own special ways, we can still be productive members in society."

It's a true story, after all. Coach B knows - because it's his story. He was that baby.

As a child, he survived 29 surgeries as his face was reconstructed.

Today, Michael Biasini teaches special education in the Alvin school district and coaches all four of the district's Special Olympics teams.

And he continues to live his motto: "never give up."
