Well done! I am in the process of making my own lathe, you make a good case here for a #3 Morse taper verses a #2 for the headstock. Very instructional. Keep up the good work!

When I learned to turn in the mid 50's I was tough to use the head stalk taper to hold my wood. My grate grand father would use a draw knife to point the wood to fit i the head stalk for me. He thought it was safer for me learning. I was ten then.
