Track from my forthcoming 3rd CD to be released later this year. It was part of my French promo-CD of 2007 too.
Recorded it some years ago together with my compadres of Mary-Lou and harmonica-wizzard and friend Stef during the sessions we named after an old Doc Watson-album 'Two Days in November'.
This one goes especially out to my 'brother' and former Mary-Lou bassplayer Jean-Phi. Sure miss them notes today!
First heard the song long long ago on a John Prine album called 'Pink Cadillac'. It is surely one of my alltime favourite songs ever. Can't beat the Prine-version nor Rowland's original - i know- but we sure played it with a lot of heart and emotion that day in the main hall of my former Steakhouse 'Witte Paarden'. The Mary-Lou soundman of that time Thierry sure captured them notes sung and played.
By far ONE of the BEST songs written EVER !! Thanks for writing this one , Rowland Salley (www.rowlandsalley.com)
Hope you like it as much as i do! (Still!)
The pics come from various scenes: 1st: LIVE on Stage at 'Le Johnny Bigouden' in St.Guenole, France with Mary-Lou in may 2002, 2nd and 3rd come from the recent Festival BFO in my hometown Zwolle and the last few come from a recent trip with my youngest son Rik. Sorry, ain't gettin' younger :))
