"At the end of home" is a project that invites the listener to contemplate their role in society in times of crisis. It is a soundscape specifically designed to produce a meditative state, a mobile heterotopia that combines elements of the real and the virtual, the macro and the micro, the intimate and the infinite inside a 33'33" audio track.

To experience this work and its effects as intended we suggest the following listening conditions:

1. It is best heard through stereo headphones of reasonable quality (ipod style headphones may not pick up the full spectrum of sounds).

2. If possible listen to the track from beginning to end, it contains audio elements that are designed to be heard sequentially to produce a meditative state.

3. Find a quiet, comfortable space to listen -- this could be a dark room, walking a random path in the city or visiting a place that offers a panoramic point of view.

4.Empty the mind and expect nothing.

"At the end of home" was produced as part of a "twinning" residency in the centre of Turin, Italy -- in an around the historic Porta Palazzo area. Two balloons found here -- the famous balon market and the 'Turin Eye' tourist attraction -- were used to consider the dual conditions of nostalgia and solastalgia, togetherness and alienation. The final work attempts to inspire the unconscious mind to dissolve the outlined opposites in strange and curious ways.

As the pressures of economic, environmental and political crisis build, the certainty of home and the safety of belonging can no longer be guaranteed producing conditions of discomfort, unsettlement and stress. Porta Palazzo and the residency at Viadellafucina served as a focal point for reflecting on these ideas. What we saw and heard here was then expanded beyond the boundaries of these spaces stretching out into the city of Turin, into Italy, Europe, and beyond.

"Crisis means no solution", says a voice at the end of home "But if we speak of great difficulty, then we can find a solution. "
