For several years the Cafesjian Center for the Arts has been the flagship for festivities, organized for children on June 1, the International Child Protection Day.

On June 1, 2012 the Cafesjian Center for the Arts welcomed over 70,000 visitors to celebrate the International Child Protection Day. This grand celebration gathered children from all over the country, uniting them around the main theme of the event - The World is Yours. This year the Cafesjian Center for the Arts was the main sponsor of the event.

The celebrations started at 17:00, with various art workshops and entertainment activities, all over the Cafesjian Sculpture Garden.
During the celebrations the following workshops were organized - painting, book binding, building of The Castle of My Colors castles, making collages, scattered all around the Cafesjian Sculpture Garden. Each of the workshops was guided by an instructor -- from CCA staff and volunteers -- members of the Association of Museum Workers and Friends.
In collaboration with Multishok children's magazine, the CCA presented two workshops: book binding and thematic painting.

Brief description of activities:

Book Binding: The children made books by binding separate pages of their selected favorite fairy tales. The process was very creative, keeping everyone excited.

Thematic Painting: The children were provided with three themes - Alone on the Street, Miraculous Pygmies, The Birds of My Courtyard, and colorful pencils and pastels to create thematic paintings.

Collage: The frontal part of the main stage became a place for the next art-activity. The children were given colorful sticky papers and reproductions of the Cascade Complex and CCA sculptures to decorate the base of the stage with interesting images of their creative inspirations.

The Castle of My Colors: The innovation of the year was the building of "castles" from foam-plastic cubes. The participant children were asked to color and paint the cubes and then build their "castles". In the end of the workshop colorful castles were built in both sizes of the stage. One of the castles had the shape of the Cascade Complex.
Face painting: The CCA staff members were also engaged in face painting activity, painting children's favorite characters on their faces, at their request.

All these activities were greeted with much interest, and there were huge lines in front of each of the tables. The visitors to the Cafesjian Sculpture Garden were also distributed special June 1 paper caps to protect themselves from the sun.

Throughout the day, many entertainment activities were taking place in the Cafesjian Sculpture Garden. The main program was commenced with the play of trumpets and parade of characters from different films and cartoons. For two hours they were entertaining the visitors all over the park. Two puppet shows - Three Chicken and Merry Concert, were performed on Khanjyan Terrace. The tightrope-walker astonished all the visitors with his difficult tricks and performance.
The second part of the festival started at 19:00 with children's concert program. It started with the performance of "Surprise" ensemble, followed by the welcoming speech of the CCA Acting Executive Director Vahagn Marabyan, who, together with the administrative staff took the stage to congratulate the children and all visitors. In the end of the speech 10 doves were released as a sign of peace on earth. For one hour different children's song and dance bands cheered all the guests, followed by the "Play and Dance" musical project, during which famous teenage singers in Armenia performed wonderful songs, cheering up everyone with energy and spirit.

At 21:30 Suren Arustamyan Blues Band took the stage presenting a very impressive program of famous blues/rock ballads for an hour. The audience was thrilled with Suren's reviving performance.

The five hour festivities ended with spectacular fireworks at 22:30.
