The M/V Austin C. Settoon busted up tow on the morning of March 2nd proceeding downbound into Racine Lock & Dam, Mile 237 Ohio River. 2 loaded barges plus the boat ended up stuck on top of the dam. On March 3rd, the boat was reportedly starting to take on water due to the stern being pinned under a dam tainter gate, so the decision was made to raise the gate and pass the vessel through the dam. The vessel rolled over completely onto her port side and was significantly damaged during this maneuver, but did not sink. The hydraulic effect of the water passing through the dam gates pulled the vessel back up to the lower side of the dam tainter gate where it remained at the beginning of this video. Three of the dam gates were completely closed and the vessel floated down away from the dam and was recovered by the M/V Alabama waiting below. The two barges remained stuck on top of the dam but were reportedly removed during the morning of March 5th.
