The so called 'English Defence League' have been active in the UK since 2009. They are alleged to have ties to the BNP, but describe themselves as a grass-roots 'counter-jihad movement' claiming to be non-violent. However, incidents of racially motivated vandalism, physical assaults and stabbings have become commonplace at EDL demonstrations. The EDL blame this behaviour on gangs of Muslim youth and anti-fascists.
When the English Defence League made it clear they intended to march in Brighton, Unite Against Fascism organised a counter demonstration.
This is what happens when racists try to march in what is arguably the most liberal city in the country.
