Filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson has released a new teaser clip for his highly ambitious feature, "The Master" which stars Joaquin Phoenix as a troubled man who becomes entangled with a Svengali-like religious leader played by Philip Seymour Hoffman. The clip's arrival coincides with the news that a surprise 70mm screening of the film has been set up for tonight (Aug 16th) in Chicago's Music Box Theater, in which ticket admissions will be donated to The Film Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving motion picture history. We should also note that when "The Master" opens in theaters on Sept 21st, Austin's Alamo Drafthouse will schedule a special 70mm screening for the film. It's been reported that Anderson is trying to establish as many 70mm screenings as possible; a difficult task considering that only a few theaters in the nation are capable of projecting that particular film format.
