At the Vaughan Bassett showroom John Bassett spoke with me about one of the new collections they’re introducing this market, American Journey. American Journey is about America. This is our latest addition from the Appalachian Hardwood collection. It is truly about this country. When we think about America; we think about sturdy, strong, everlasting. And that’s exactly what we’re projecting with this group. With the six corner tops and this is made out of solid American White Oak. And we are very proud of the fact that it is made by Americans in America. I think that the most significant signature pieces are the beds. We have two gorgeous beds and first of all, they are strong and they are sturdy. First is a poster bed and we have it in all wood and we also have it with metal accents. Then we have a sleigh bed. I think it is the most beautiful sleigh bed that Appalachian Hardwood has ever had. It’s just gorgeous. You have to see them and put your hands on them to appreciate them. We have three finishes. We have a light wash finish; we also have a medium harvest finish and a darker tobacco finish. By having three separate finishes; by having all the different dressers and chests and beds; it fits every part of this country. From California to Boston, from Florida to North Dakota; this is about this county. This is the way furniture used to be made and it is the way furniture should be made. And it is made by our craftsmen. This is the real McCoy. One thing all retailers ought to recognize, that at least 75% of everything we make at Vaughn Bassett, we deliver in seven days. You do not have to carry inventory. We will carry it for you.
