These replica ruby slippers were hand sewn and crafted using the same basic technique employed by MGM studio to create the original slippers worn by Judy Garland in the 1939 MGM film "The Wizard of Oz." Vintage Belgian wine metallic gelatin sequins were individually sewn onto a ruby taffeta fabric overlay, which was then attached to a vintage pair of 1930s size 6 ladies' pumps. The base shoes used for this pair of replicas were formerly used as prop shoes in the HBO series "Mildred Pierce" starring Kate Winslet. The jeweled bows were created using strap leather, vintage Swarovski ruby 4mm rose montees, dark red bugle beads, and lab ruby jewel stones. These shoes took approximately 4-5 months to create, and countless hours of labor.
PLEASE NOTE: I do not make replica ruby slippers for sale.
Music: "Main Title" performed by Herbert Stothart and the MGM Orchestra, "The Wizard of Oz" (MGM, 1939).
