Yale Bowl

"Ladies and gentlemen, please direct your attention to the 50 yard line, where Director of Bands Thomas C. Duffy is joined by Amy and P. Sheridan Schechner. Mr. Schechner, a member of the Yale class of 1980, graduated with degrees in both Economics & Political Science AND Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry. He served as Drum Major of the Yale Precision Marching Band in both 1978 and 1979. For the last three decades, he has worked in commercial real estate finance for several investment banks in New York, London, and Tokyo. Mr. Schechner's career is extremely distinguished. There is just one little glitch in his career...After leaving Yale, he earned his MBA and JD at Harvard University. Mr. Schechner asked: what could he do to make up for that Cantabridgian indiscretion? Ladies and gentlemen, today the Yale-Harvard halftime show is brought to you in part by the Amy and P. Sheridan Schechner Yale Precision Marching Band Endowment Fund. Thank you for your generosity, Amy and Paul. Your initial gift established a Yale Band Endowment which has now exceeded $1,000,000. From now on, your endowment will make it possible at every Yale-Harvard home game to hear the words: 'Good Afternoon, Ladies and Gentlemen!'"
