On the Tuesday, October 9, 1979 edition of Channel 7's "Special Report" with Bill Bonds, WXYZ-TV took a somewhat light-hearted approach while looking at the numerous problems and broken promises DDOT riders had to endure during the late 1970's. Enjoy!
Although bus service in Detroit has improved tremendously in recent years, things have not always been rosy for D-DOT (the city of Detroit's transportation department). Over the years —— beginning around the mid-1970s and well into the mid-to-late'80s —— the city's transit system would encounter numerous obstacles and would struggle to maintain adequate service.
This is the forth in a series of upcoming videos from back in the day. Other videos will look at the continuing struggles the city's transit department faced, and their attempts to overcome those issues.
