Chelsea was Peter Criss's band before KISS. Beck was written about fellow member Mike Brand's wife, Becky, who was always bitchin' about them playing so much (guess that's obvious). I guess Peter saw something in the tune because he brought it to KISS with him. It was originally released as the B-side to Detroit Rock City but radio stations, particularly one in Atlanta, Georgia, began playing it more than "Detroit Rock City" and it quickly became a highly-requested selection. Kiss and Casablanca Records reissued "Beth" as an A-side with "Detroit Rock City" as the B-side, and it was far more successful.[citation needed] The single went Gold in the United States (the first Kiss single to do so) on January 5, 1977 and in Canada on December 1, 1976. Horrible quality I know, but haven't heard better and couldn't find it on YouTube. So I felt the need to share it.
