The McChord Air Museum on McChord AFB (Joint Base Lewis-McChord), near Tacoma, Wash., has cultivated a remarkable collection of aircraft significant to the colorful history of the base and the many units that have been associated with it. Begun in 1982, the museum is a Pacific Northwest asset with rare aircraft including a Douglas B-18A, B-23, C-124, F-106A, OA-10A Catalina, and C-141B. (It is always advisable to contact museums before planning a visit.)
