Move over Tony Stark, because there's a new name in self-made robot arms and this one is NOT a fictional drunk billionaire.
Sun Jifa, a Chinese farmer from Guanmashan, has apparently constructed fully functional prosthetic hands out of scrap metal and wire after accidentally blowing off his real hands with a homemade bomb while blast fishing.
Unable to afford prosthetics at his local hospital, Jifa reportedly spent 8 years perfecting his design. He says the hands, made largely of steel and operated by wires at his elbows, can hold things, grip items and fulfill basically any movements of real hands. With an estimated 24 million people with limb disabilities in China, Jifa, who says he plans to make his cheap prosthetics for others, could be looking at some very lucrative mitts.
Now, if he'd just decide to combine his interest in DIY robotics AND explosives, we might have a REAL superhero on our hands...
