In 2010, Whole Foods Market's Mid-Atlantic Region embarked on a partnership with RAMP to make a difference in the lives of poverty-stricken families in the Appalachian region of Martin County, Kentucky. Through community support such as fundraising events and food drives in Whole Foods Market stores, nutrition and gardening education with Martin County schools, and microloan assistance to Martin County entrepreneurs, Whole Foods Market and RAMP have been able to help Martin County take great steps toward long-term sustainability.
About Whole Foods: Who are we? Well, we seek out the finest natural and organic foods available, maintain the strictest quality standards in the industry, and have an unshakeable commitment to sustainable agriculture. Add to that the excitement and fun we bring to shopping for groceries, and you start to get a sense of what we're all about. Oh yeah, we're a mission-driven company too.
