June, 2009's challenge was the "Battlefield Pickup" rifle match. Basically shoot an unfamiliar rifle to simulate picking up a discard or found rifle during a Zombie Apocalypse. Shoot two zombie head targets at 50 yards, one from a battlefield emplacement (i.e. foxhole) over the barricade (but not resting anything but your arms on it) or if no barricade available, from the prone position without support or using the sling. Then fire five rounds from the standing unsupported position (again, no sling).
Problem was firing a rifle with a "battlefield zero" set much longer than 50 yards at a small target. The rifles either shot low (the crossbar was hit three times, thank goodness for duct tape) or high. Out of all rifles there were only six "kill shots" to the zombies' brains out of thirty rounds fired. (The zombies were "hit" more than six times but these would not have counted as stopping the undead. :P)
