I totally fucked up. Played on a steel acoustic guitar, started bleeding and now will probably have to wait for days before I can play again.

if you are a brand new player, there's only one piece of advice I have and that is to work hard NOW on getting out of the bad habit of pressing too hard on the strings. there are some great videos on YouTube about how to train for this. it is a huge mistake that almost every beginner makes to press too hard which only causes worse pain. Speaking from experience, I can tell you that once you train your brain to do this it is extremely difficult to break the habit. I have been playing so long, that I often forget that my fingers hurt so badly when I first started until I see a video post like this. You have to push through the pain for about a month or so, but I promise it is so worth it! Playing guitar (especially jamming with other players) is probably the most fun thing I've ever done in my life!
