"The Spirit of Small Business"
March 12 - Grace Fricks, Founder and CEO of ACE Loans, started her Georgia based micro loans company with a simple I.O.U. on the back of a piece of paper for 200 dollars to help a lady and her struggling painting business. Since then, ACE has provided 22 million dollars in loans. The goal of ACE is to help or build small businesses, which are run by women or minorities, in which are often underserved by the banks. ACE is a non for profit organization which is 69% self-sustaining and has created more than 35,000 jobs since the recession began. In a world where 87% of businesses are considered small business (20 employees or less), this work is very important and the company continues to grow and help build successful businesses, as well as end the poverty cycle for many who can't get help any other way on a everyday basis.
