The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) / Women, Infants and Children’s Supplemental Nutrition Program’s (WIC) Talk with Your Baby project teaches new language skills to children through a unique Language Nutrition campaign. OUR MISSION To ensure that every WIC child’s language skills are developed and strengthened by increasing early exposure to words through the “Language Nutrition - Talk with Your Baby” Project. PROJECT GOAL To teach Language Nutrition skills to WIC participants through the use of videos, books, posters, and education messages selected specifically for the campaign. A yearlong language initiative, the Georgia WIC Talk with Your Baby aims to: • Train WIC staff about the importance of language nutrition and modeling behaviors that encourage parent to talk with their baby in the prenatal period and beyond. • Support parents in providing culturally sensitive language nutrition in their home language. • Increase public awareness about the importance of language. TARGET AUDIENCE This initiative is designed for parents and guardians of infants and children participants in the WIC Program.
