Grass carp are probably one of the rarest catches on a fly rod. This is because their diet consists mainly of vegetation but obviously they will eat meat occasionally. I was throwing a weighted SEM Sculpin (Rainy's Flies) in a small pond catching decent Blue Gill and small Bass when this fish hit. The take was very light and on the first run I figured that it was a nice Bass. However, when he came to the surface I was very surprised. I figured that I had foul hooked him but the fly was clearly in his mouth. The fight went on for over 10 minutes and gave the 3 weight rod a fit. Unfortunately, the actual footage of the fish after I caught him is not real good but he can be seen. The release footage is pretty bad too but I did not edit it out because you can see a glimpse of how big the fish is and that is why filming it was so difficult. It takes 2 hands to handle this a fish this big.
