There are many video clips of retractable Fords and 4-door Lincoln convertible tops on Youtube but no 1958-1960 Lincolns. So here's a clip showing the convertible top in action. These cars are over 19 feet in length, weigh in at about 5400 pounds and are of unitbody construction. The reverse slant glass rear window opens and closes electrically and the whole rear window frame is pulled down into the car, taking the top with it. The tops locks to the windshield header by electrically driven screws. With the top crammed in the storage compartment there is still a hugh trunk behind it, unlike the Fords with their small luggage tubs and the 4-door Lincolns with very little storage.

I L.G.Harvey Jr have a 1964 convertible red white blue.dream car as kid and dreams come true.

This car's exhaust is shockingly loud:  it probably does not have the proper NOS exhaust, which is very hard to find.   The only one that I knew that at least used to have it was General Auto Supply, in Lawrence, Mass.

Huge trunk, not Hugh.  Hugh is a man's name.

They shrank a lot but didn't lose weight.

Yes. Lincolns and Thunderbirds were unibodies starting in 1958 with the original version of this Lincoln and the original 4 seat Thunderbird. Later in the mid-60's Lincolns became body on frame again, similar to Ford Galaxie engineering.

UNIBODY? YOU MEAN THAT THERE IS NO FULL FRAME UNDER THIS CAR? REALLY?

It's so big, even with the top down it appears to have a fair amount of trunk space. That was an amazing design.

It was amazing how radically different the 1960 and 1961 Lincoln were. Total redesign.
