Making his first start on turf and against older horses, Unbridled's Note shipped in from New York as the 3-to-1 favorite for Steve Asmussen and scored a 1 1/4-length victory in the inaugural $100,000 Eddie D Stakes over 6 1/2-furlongs on the downhill turf course at Santa Anita.
After breaking from the far outside post, the 3-year-old son of Unbridled's Song sat the perfect stalking trip under Corey Nakatani before engaging pace-setter Chosen Miracle, who held on for second at 12-to-1, and drawing away through the stretch to win for the third time in his seventh career start.
Unbridled's Note entered off a pair of third-place finishes on the main track at Saratoga in graded stakes action and the logical next step is the $1 million Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (GI) over this layout on November 3. Asmussen and Nakatani teamed to win last year's year-end championship for turf sprinters with Regally Ready.
