Applications traditionally are very much a software artifact, software engineering artifact; that we package applications, we give them to somebody, they install it. The applications are a metaphorical silo that owns its own data and to get to that data you have to use that particular application. And I'd like to kind of remove this limitation.
All data should be shared and the idea of silos should go away. And applications should more be a reflection of the user's intent, what does the user want to do, what does the user want to accomplish. Applications are a conduit and a particular kind of view to the data, but different applications could still see the same data. And applications tend to come and go but data, I think, is -- the information that an individual collects and has access to should be the -- should be the important thing that stays.
