THE LATE AUCKLAND BLUESMAN SONNY DAY WAS A REGULAR PERFORMER IN THE WELLINGTON / HUTT VALLEY AREA IN THE EARLY NINETIES. THIS IS NEW ZEALAND'S 'KING OF THE BLUES' ON AN EARLY MORNING TV APPEARANCE IN AID OF AN APPEAL FOR VICTIMS OF WESTERN SAMOA'S CYCLONE 'BOLA'. THE BAND HAD DONE A GIG EARLIER IN THE EVENING AT THE OLYMPIC HOTEL IN NAENAE AND THEN RUSHED DOWN TO THE AVALON STUDIOS TO PLAY. WE DID TWO NUMBERS -"T BONE SHUFFLE" AND SONNY'S BIG HIT "SAVING UP". I'M STILL TRYING TO FIND THE VIDEO OF "SAVING UP"-IT TOOK LONG ENOUGH TO UNEARTH THIS ONE ,BUT HERE IT IS - A RARE LIVE CLIP OF A TALENTED MUSICIAN & AND MUCH MISSED FRIEND.
THE BAND IS:
SONNY DAY: LEAD GUITAR VOCALS
DOUGAL SPIER: LEAD GUITAR
GARRY O'KEEFFE: PIANO
GEORGE BARRIS: BASS
JIM 'LEADFOOT' LAWRIE: DRUMS

SORRY ABOUT THE PICTURE BUT I THINK THE AUDIO TELLS THE STORY.
