New control charts have been added to Version 17 to monitor the rate of occurrence of rare events, such as infections in a hospital. The t chart plots the time between events recorded in continuous time, while the g chart plots the time between events recorded in discrete time. The Weibull and geometric distributions provide the statistical basis for the charts. Standard runs rules are supplemental by a consecutive zeroes test on the g chart.
