It's always good in the Pahud!

Absolutely beautiful.
Great performance. I know that Pahud is thought of as the greatest these days. I can't really address his technique and tone. It sounds pretty much flawless to me. I can however comment on interpretation. Listen to the first 30 seconds or so up to the piano interlude. Compare those four phrases to the Galway and Rampal clips on YouTube. To me, Pahud misses the boat on this section taken as a whole. His four phrases are individually beautiful, but sound disconnected. It's like he is starting a new piece each time. Both Rampal and Galway seem to grasp the whole picture, and especially Rampal ties together phrases 1 & 2 and 3 & 4. They are distinct, yet he does not lose momentum after each phrase as does Pahud. It is a great temptation to focus on the tone of a particular note or on the delivery of one phrase at the expense of the composer's intent and the bigger picture.

I know you posted this about a year ago, but if you want to play it again there is a great way to hit high notes at the beginning of the piece. Emmanuel, in another one of his videos, talked about how to open up your sinus area and throat cavities to help you sing it out. Think about eating wasabi or horse raddish and how it clears everything out. Then, when you go to make the sound focus having resonance in the nasal cavity..works every time.
im working on this right now :) that one part in the song where it goes from E to C really fast is what gets me
