http://minwax.tv/CatalogLookforLess DIY expert and author Bruce Johnson on KATV Channel 7 News Good Morning Arkansas demonstrates how to "get the catalog look for less" using unfinished wood furniture and Minwax products. It's easy to create that wonderful look for your home and save money while doing it.

This method can easily be done with affordable unfinished furniture that you can buy in a store or online. Create the perfect piece for your home decor and customize to whatever color you like!

Pastel wood colors were popular several years ago, but now walnut and mahogany are the big trends. Bruce shows how easy it is in just a few quick steps. All you have to do is prep the unfinished wood with a medium fine sandpaper by hand. Anything between a 150 - 180 grade sandpaper will work fine.

Then use Minwax Wood Conditioner to allow your stain to penetrate into the wood's pores more evenly. Use your Minwax stain of choice (Bruce uses Minwax Gel Stain Walnut in this video) and lastly, give it a quick coat of fast drying polyurethane using a natural bristle brush for protection.

Bruce also demonstrates how to create the popular black finish on wood with Minwax Polyshades - a combination of stain and finish!
