Elton Britt (1913-1972) was country before country went to town. He was actually more a westerner, having grown up in Oklahoma. Many singing cowboys, on both sides of the border, were good yodelers. Roy Rogers, who portrayed singing cowboys, was an outstanding yodeler, although he seldom did it, and on the Mexican side, Miguel Aceves Mejía and Antonio Aguilar were exceptional yodelers, or falsetto singers, as the Mexicans call them. Britt was one of the very best at yodeling, and was reputed to be able to yodel higher than anyone else, as he shows in "Chime Bells."
