Amtrak Action At Raleigh: 76, 40th Anniversary Train, and 91

The surprise arrival of the Amtrak Museum train led to a busy evening of railfanning at the Raleigh Amtrak station Sunday night.

First in was a late running Piedmont train 76.

Amtrak 855, the 40th Anniversary Train, was waiting at South Raleigh for 76 to clear, and pulled into the station to change crews before backing into the NCDOT Capital yard. The inbound crew from Richmond was not qualified into the yard. The location that they would recrew at was uncertain, so I missed out on getting a shot of the train pulling in.

The southbound Silver Star had rolled up to the stop signal at Hunt as the museum train recrewed, and coasted into the station with back-to-back P42's a few moments after 855 cleared.
