Too Many Kings

My poverty haunts me like the back of the broom.
Death creeps round in the upstairs room.
Is it love or depression or my shocked impression,
Of the history of the war of the Spanish Succession?
There's a guy down the chip-shop, says he's Elvis,
That's allright for him but what I say is:

Chorus:-There's too many kings, too many kings,
Wont somebody help me get rid of these things.
There's too many kings, too many kings,
These kings they're gonna wreck everything.

There's kings in Jerusalem, there's kings in the East.
Too many kings sitting down to the feast,
Just to wear that thing that they call a crown
Built on dead burnt bodies piled up and down.
The writing on the wall says "Johnny rules!",
But Johnny's like the rest of them and they're all fools.

Chorus+
Ooh, ooh too many, ooh, ooh too many, ooh, ooh too many kings.

There's the book of rules, and the book of kings.
Religion confusing everything,
For the cowboy on the horse of disease
with the double ambition of pride and greed.
There's a way of thinking that says take what you can get.
When there's nothing left, then what happens next?

Chorus+
Ooh, ooh too many, ooh, ooh too many, ooh, ooh too many kings.

When I look up at the evening sky
I am not at peace and I know why.
There's a little white light for every one who died,
Every man woman child sent down to die.
It could have been me, it could have been you,
It could have been the both of us doing it too

Chorus
