In 1984, reporter Hilda Bryant and photographer Richard Pauli traveled to the Northwest Frontier Province of Pakistan/Afghanistan and to Parachinar and Teri Mangal. Then traveling with the Mujahideen into the Jagjit province of Afghanistan.
Early in 1984 Sony Corp released their new one piece broadcast betacam camera. Still untested in the field, they loaned Pauli the camera and donated the tape for coverage of a small aspect of that war during the Soviet occupation.
This brief documentary won an Emmy for investigative journalism in 1984 Seattle.
