Those facing intense emotional pain cannot simply "choose to feel differently" on a dime. Consequently, many conclude that this is just the "way I am" - with presumably no other options available moving forward. But is that really true? If not able to simply extinguish painful emotions, what if we began relating to them in different ways - ways that, over time, created some wiggle room and new possibilities of freedom from the chronic mental or emotional turmoil?
