Nearly 300 educators converged at Hofstra on July 7 for a day-long conference on how to translate their skills to new careers outside the classroom. The conference, aimed at helping laid-off teachers succeed in a changing job market, brought together government labor experts and representatives from industry and non-profit organizations to talk about careers that are growing despite the economic downturn.
