Watch an hour of field work in under a minute as UC Davis CA&ES Dean Helene Dillard helps a team of UC Davis researchers tag and release Rainbow Trout near the headwaters of the Fall River in the northeastern corner of Shasta County, California.

Led by UC Davis Center for Watershed Sciences researcher Carson Jeffres and UC Davis assistant professor of genetics/genomics Mike Miller, the interdisciplinary research project uses population monitoring and genetic sampling to better understand biodiversity in native fishes in order to develop improved conservation, management, and restoration programs for these unique systems.

Mount Shasta is visible in the right-side background in this time-lapse captured by Chris Nicolini on April 9, 2015.
