"THATHAGATHEEYAMU"తథాగతీయము (Dynasty of sakyas and life history and teachings of Lord Gowthama Buddha), written by 'Padya kavitha Bhushana' Late Sri Addanki Kesava Rao(1918-2005),is only the voluminous full poetry work in Telugu literature ever published after the well known and ancient "NIRVACHANOTHARA RAMAYANA"(story of Lava Kusa) written by Mahakavi Sree Thikkan Somayaji.
The poet Addanki Kesava Rao, on why he had attempted to write on Gowthama Buddha, said "Everybody must understand that 'BUDDHISM' is unique in its nature which taught the world, and particularly to people of Asia, the way of living socially without any conflict and lead a peaceful life through the 'Aryaashtanga Marga', Kindness, love, affection, service mindedness, sacrifice, tolerance, charity, unity, truth and their importance in society were administered in his 'SANGHA' as a model to public then and to the future generations as well. My aim in writing this Maha Kavya is to reform the people of all schools of religions and incorporate real spirit of humanity. It teaches the necessity of pure thought, pure word and pure deed. We should understand that 'BUDDHISM' is not only a religion but also a socio reformatory organisation."
