NEC Engineering's IPBird-4100 is a mobile video converter which converts images to IP packets and uses a mobile communication network for transmission. Stable communication with high image quality is possible because the device transmits images at speeds of up to 256kbps using up to four 64kbps mobile phone lines. When used in combination with the IPBird-5040 mobile dial-up router, the IPBird-4100 can be used to monitor remote locations. Any type of ordinary NTSC video camera can be used. The system can be used in a broad range of applications including transmitting images in real time from a disaster area or images that show the progress status of a construction site or the transmission of images from a moving car.
