Komplete Elements is an affordable pack of virtual instruments offered by Native Instruments for $60 ($50 at third party retailers.) They don't advertise this nearly as much as their other products but this is a must-own for anyone looking for cheap but good virtual instruments, as you'll see in the following videos.

As these are virtual instruments, to record with them, you will need a Digital Audio Workstation like Ableton, FLstudio, Reaper, Logic, Pro Tools, etc... however, to simply play or perform with them you do not need a DAW, as they come with their own players. The instruments in Komplete Elements are in VST, AU, RTAS and AAX, so they work on all major operating systems and with every major DAW.

To easily play and record with virtual instruments, you should get a USB MIDI keyboard. There's very many good ones, so google away until you find one you like. Companies like M-audio, Akai, Alesis and Behringer all make great USB MIDI keyboard controllers.

This is the Kontakt 5 section of Komplete Elements. I took 10 of my favorites out of the massive selection you have... there are 56 instruments in the Kontakt 5 Selection (59 including the orchestral instruments) that are all pretty good, but these are 10 that I felt showed a wide variety of sounds. There are many others of equal quality, and each one I did show had many, many more sounds than what I showed, but I felt that this video was enough to give you the idea. Native Instruments is giving you real quality here.
