About the 5th Woman:

The 5th Woman is a collection of artists who seek to radicalize the souls of women through poetry.

The 5th Woman is a poetry collective, but it is more than that. It is a group of women who support each other and seek to understand each other even when we may come from vastly different backgrounds. It is a group that teaches us to be vulnerable and to let our vulnerabilities drive our art. It is an empowering space for women of color. And it teaches us what men are born knowing: that it is okay to be an artist for a living and that it is okay to promote ourselves and be proud of our work and put ourselves out there. It doesn’t mean we are conceited; it means we are letting the world read the stories of our lives, which are often very personal and take a lot of courage to share.
