These are the final moments of WFAA-TV on its analog Channel 8. Chief meteorologist Pete Delkus narrates this brief retrospective of WFAA, including stills from its early days as KBTV, and footage from its history. It ends with a real treat, a sign-off tape from the mid '70s, then goes to snow forever.

Never had to worry we've had cable since like 1997 and we've only switched from Comcast to FiOS in 2013. Had Comcast from 1997-2013

Nice touch with Neil Diamond's "African Trilogy". By far, the best analog signoff ever. 😉

I so love this sign-off. WFAA was at the time perhaps the best local TV station in the country.

I was on the WFAA Productions floor crew from 1971 to 1974. I shot the sign-on/off in 1973 using a 16mm film camera and editing on a state-of-the-art Ampex RA-4000 editor using 2inch videotape. The track came from Neil Diamond. Very pleased to see they used it in the final analog sign-off. Kind regards, Bill Merriam

I was 5 at the time... Woke up and nothing! Me and my dad went to Fry's and bought a converter box.
