We often think software is only about creating dating apps or funny emoticons, but in this talk, entrepreneur Jimmy Chen encourages us to see software as a tool that changes the world.
Jimmy Chen is the founder and CEO of Propel. Previously, Jimmy was a Product Manager at Facebook, where he led the Facebook Groups team. He has also worked at LinkedIn and Yahoo. Through Propel, Jimmy aims to use Silicon Valley's technology playbook to fight poverty by building world class software for low-income Americans. Propel's product, Fresh EBT, is used by over 400,000 Americans every month to manage their food stamp benefits and improve their overall financial health. Through Propel, Jimmy has been featured in the New York Times, PBS, and Forbes, and has spoken at Money20/20, the Code for America Summit, Stanford Business School, and Columbia Business School.
