The Fayette County Georgia Commission, at the behest of Commissioner Herb Frady, is attempting to redraw voting districts. Frady first introduced the map he had redrawn at a Commission Retreat at Callaway Gardens (Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., August 8th). It was brought up for a vote at the following meeting although not listed on the agenda. After Commissioner Pfeifer objected, it was placed on the agenda of the Special Called Meeting held on Monday, August 20th (8:30 a.m.). The Commission voted to approve the map as drawn by Frady with a modification made by the State's Reapportionmnet Office. The issue has sparked debates and has raised the issue of district voting again. Currently Fayette County has "at large" voting.
