This video discusses how for some applications in tree removal or trimming a reciprocating saw has many advantages over a chain saw, specifically with smaller trees or pruning trees where you have to climb up in them.

The saw I am using is a DeWALT DC385K 18-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless Reciprocating Saw. I have used this saw hard and much like my DeWALT 18 volt drill it just keeps going.

I want to be clear that a reciprocating saw is NOT a replacement for a chain saw. There are many applications where only a chain saw can do the job but for many smaller jobs the reciprocating saw has many advantages
