On June 25th, 2016, the team behind the Superfine! art fair and creative art consultancy The JAMM Project, along with 25 independent spaces, lit up the Little River and Little Haiti neighborhoods in the very first Little River's Night of Light. Designed as an exercise in community arts programming, the inaugural Night of Light garnered attention from the Miami Herald and local bloggers as well as over 5000 attendees who traversed the galleries, creative hubs, and artists' studios throughout the Little River Art District and other reaches of Miami's Little Haiti neighborhood. Nearby nabes got involved too, as a co-sponsored installation by collective Nice'N Easy floated gracefully in the pool at the restored Vagabond Hotel in the MiMo District, and cocktails flowed to retro tunes at The Anderson. All told, Night of Light transcended the boundaries of a single neighborhood and illuminated a path less traveled in order to expose expose adventurous Miamians to the amazing efforts of the myriad artists and artrepreneurs who call these creative enclaves home.
