He added that he was strictly wanting to make great music at the time and wasn't concerned with the politics in the industry, so the collaboration made perfect sense.

When asked about Kanye's now-infamous 2009 VMA speech, The-Dream reveals he believes it "defined" Taylor Swift. He adds that it was a "cultural moment" and propelled Taylor to a wider audience, because she wasn't as well known in hip-hop culture.
