Sathuragiri also called as 'Mahalinga Malai' *
This is the 'Veda Vaaku' (The veda truth) of the Siddhar 'Kalanginathar':-
"Thaanaana Vethangal Naanku monraai
saarthingo ruruvaaga samainthathalae
Vaenana peyar Sathuragiri Eethendro"
The four vedas of 'rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharvana', all of these have mingled together as one called 'Sathuragiri'. This is the statement given by the Siddhar Kalanginathar.
Sathuragiri is the place at the western ghat, which has been at the height of 2500 fts, surrounded with four hills and situated at the midst of them, in the green valley. As this has been surrounded with four hills around, this has been called as Sathuragiri. In Tamil language, sathuram means square.
Normally there have been rush on 'Amavasai' (New moon) and 'Pournami' (full moon). Again the 'Amavasai' (New moon) fall in theTamil month of 'Adi' (June-July) and 'Thai' (Jan-Feb) have been the most crowded days of the year. On this time we could expect more than 5 Lakhs of devotees on the hill to worship 'Mahalingam' - the Maha Siddhar, who is none other than our Lord Shiva.
