Written and produced by the Motown production team, Holland--Dozier--Holland, "You Can't Hurry Love" was recorded for the album "The Supremes A' Go-Go" and became The Supremes' seventh hit to top Billboard's singles charts. Released in August of 1966, the song was on the charts for 13 weeks and took the #1 spot in Billboard's Hot 100 for two weeks in September. It also reached #1 on Billboard's R&B charts and the Cash Box Top 100 and finished up the year at #8 on Billboard's Year End chart.
This is one of the Motown singles of the 1960s that still sounds better to me in the mono version we heard on our AM radios in 1966 than the more commonly heard stereo version played on oldies stations today.
