STATE DEPARTMENT: EVIDENCE SHOWS RUSSIA HIT HOSPITAL IN SYRIA WITH AIRSTRIKE - 29 Oct - The U.S. administration has evidence that leads it to believe Russia hit a hospital in Syria with an airstrike, said State Department spokesman John Kirby in a press briefing Thursday.
"We have evidence that leads us to believe that that happened," Kirby said.
Kirby said the U.S. used various operational reporting to come to that conclusion. Russia has denied that it hit the hospital.
Russia has been accused several times in recent weeks of hitting hospitals in Syria. Last week the Syrian American Medical Society said Russian airstrikes killed least 12 people in a hospital in the northwest province of Idlib. At least 595 people have been killed by Russian airstrikes in Syria so far, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a monitoring group, said Thursday.

Dominik Stillhart, director of operations at the International Committee of the Red Cross, which has people on the ground in Syria, told RT he is unaware of any such incidents.
“We’ve seen these reports as well, but in the absence of any firsthand information coming from our teams on the ground, I can neither confirm, nor deny these allegations,” Stillhart said, stressing that international humanitarian law “fully applies to the airstrikes undertaken by [anyone] in Syria, including Russia.

RUSSIA DISMISSES AS FALSE REPORTS ON ALLEGED CIVILIAN DEATHS FROM AIRSTRIKES IN SYRIA - 29 Oct - Russia is indignant over the spread of false materials on alleged civilian deaths in Syria from Russian air strikes against terrorists, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
‘We are indignant over the replication of false materials in a report released recently by the UN Secretary General on the humanitarian situation in Syria and, what’s more, with reference to the UN Office for Human Rights, earlier disseminated in the media by some media organizations on alleged civilian deaths in Syria as a result of the Russian air force’s operation in Syria," the spokeswoman said.
"Such insinuations, whoever they may come from and whoever may replicate them, have nothing to do with reality," the Russian diplomat said.
