I met up with Ken (kenjr29mfl) Tampa Bay Local, and (SFLRailFan) Ted to catch some action in South Florida. We started out in Clewiston and made our way around the Southern part of Lake Okeechobee and back North to around Port Mayaca (St. Lucie Canal). The South Central Florida Express Railroad is a Shortline. They haul raw sugar from the fields to the Mills and Refinery located in the area. They also handle a few other shipments- but mainly sugar cane and sugar related products... From St. Petersburg it is about three hours away... I really like this shortline and appreciate how friendly the SCFE was towards us. The SCFE operates on former ACL (Atlantic Coast Line) South of Sebring down to about South Shore. From South Shore it is on FEC track, which FEC leases the line to U.S. Sugar... The FEC section is on the East side of the Lake and connects with the FEC Main at Ft. Pierce. I really enjoyed railfanning with Ken and Ted it was fun! Filmed by: Rich Hill 2-03-2010
