Contemporary dance choreographed by Susan Cash, danced by Keiko Kitano and music by Henry Kucharzyk with Richard Sacks and Andrew Cash. Susan's dances reveal her sensitive connection to the environment. Tree Woman investigates the notion of innate roots and the instinctive pull of ancestral influence. This solo blends the dancer's story of Japanese heritage and the choreographer's own Mohawk cultural inheritance and adopted Chinese traditions. The dance draws you towards the subtle layers of texture and internal meanings of spirit, ritual, earth and sensing. Performed Jan. 2010, York University.
